Special Requirements: Pistol, holster, 3 magazines, tactical vest, wraparound eye and ear protection

Active Shooter training is designed to prepare responding officers for an active shooter incident. The emphasis is on developing the team skills of the first responders to locate, evaluate, isolate and, if necessary, eliminate the active shooter threat in a school, workplace, or other public environment. Major topics covered are:
- Review of lessons learned from school shootings
- Patrol officer response/tactics
- Determining weapon threats/IED’s
- Familiarity with school/workplace/public buildings
- Use of site surveys for preplanned response
- Assistance from school resource officers
- Communication, command, and control
- Use of Incident Command System
- School liaison/training
- Intelligence gathering/decision making for a course of action
- Developing a Patrol Response Team (PRT)
- Team approach/entry/movements within buildings
- Containment
- Room entry to eliminate threat(s) if necessary
- Counter sniper issues
- Practical firearms training with pistol/rifle/shotgun
- Practical exercises for live-fire movement drills
- Shoot house entry drills
